Rapid infection detection at the point of care

AIDTriage LLC is developing a breakthrough handheld diagnostic platform designed to rapidly detect infectious agents at the point of care. By combining microfluidic small-volume testing, DNA/RNA fluorescence chemistry, smartphone-based imaging, and AI-assisted analysis, AIDTriage delivers actionable diagnostic insights within minutes, long before traditional laboratory testing is available.

Our platform is engineered for clinics, urgent care centers, field hospitals, and low-resource environments where rapid triage can dramatically improve patient outcomes. Whether during routine care or emerging outbreaks, AIDTriage empowers clinicians with fast, reliable infection-type differentiation.

Make early infection detection fast, affordable, and universally accessible.

Our mission

To provide healthcare providers with rapid, reliable infection-triage tools that improve decision-making and strengthen global preparedness for infectious-disease threats.

Why it matters

Early triage saves lives

Faster identification of infection type enables earlier, more effective treatment.

Antibiotic stewardship

Differentiating viral from bacterial infections reduces unnecessary antibiotic use.

Outbreak readiness

Our platform detects infection signatures even before pathogen-specific tests exist.

Universal accessibility

Designed for point-of-care use in both advanced and resource-limited settings.

We aim to democratize diagnostic capability by delivering laboratory-grade insights through a portable, low-cost device.

Technology overview

AIDTriage’s diagnostic platform is built on four core pillars, from sample to result.

1

Microfluidic small-volume testing

Our microfluidic chamber processes microliter-scale samples such as saliva, nasal swabs, or wound fluid.

Disposable cartridges ensure sterility and low-cost scalability.

  • Minimal sample requirements
  • Rapid reagent mixing
  • Controlled fluorescence activation
  • Consistent optical capture
2

Proprietary DNA/RNA fluorescence chemistry

Our detection chemistry binds to nucleic acid structures associated with viral, bacterial, and fungal pathogens. When activated by 470 nm blue-light irradiation, these markers emit fluorescence signatures that vary based on pathogen type, nucleic acid density, microbial load, and structural integrity.

These fluorescence patterns form the foundation of our diagnostic signal.

3

Smartphone-based imaging

AIDTriage leverages the high-resolution cameras already present in modern smartphones. This dramatically reduces device cost while maintaining high diagnostic accuracy.

Our optical module standardizes:

  • Illumination
  • Exposure
  • RGB capture parameters
  • Fluorescence isolation
4

AI-assisted analysis

Captured fluorescence images are processed through machine-learning models trained on thousands of laboratory samples.

Results are delivered in minutes through a clinician-friendly interface.

  • RGB fluorescence pattern recognition
  • Viral vs. bacterial vs. fungal classification
  • Microbial load estimation
  • Confidence scoring
  • Trend analysis for repeated tests

Laboratory foundations

Our R&D pipeline includes rigorous laboratory workflows that support model training and calibration.

Agar plate culturing & calibration

We culture bacterial and viral samples on agar plates to:

  • Generate known microbial concentrations
  • Validate fluorescence intensity curves
  • Build calibration datasets
  • Compare fluorescence behavior across pathogen classes

LabVida slide imaging

LabVida fluorescence slides provide high-resolution fluorescence capture, consistent substrate conditions, and reliable RGB data.

These slides form benchmark datasets for device validation.

470 nm blue-light irradiation

Our excitation module uses 470 nm LEDs chosen for:

  • Optimal excitation efficiency
  • Minimal background noise
  • Compatibility with smartphone sensors
  • Low power consumption

Viral microscopy: T4 bacteriophage

Microscopic imaging of T4 bacteriophage infections helps us understand:

  • Viral structural fluorescence behavior
  • Infection progression signatures
  • Distinct viral vs. bacterial fluorescence patterns

This data is essential for early viral detection.
